You know...I came back with great intentions of making this "my road to crypto dev" blog. The truth is...I really like devops and don't want to stray. I've been learning as much as possible from my coworkers and I think its time to get back on this for a road to \$300k+ engineer. Let me set the scene of when I'll know I've made it. Walk with me, talk with me (s/o to Hank)...get up and nothing is real until 10a. This is free space for coffee, journaling, self-reflection, typing out the next blog...anything! Once my work day hits I'm working but not working ya know...like 4-5hrs of real work a week bc I'm a beast at what I do and I'm efficient. Days are overall just chilling. I go compete when I feel like it and maybe catch a flight on weekends to visit friends and family. Checks cash, all bills are paid, and there is left over so I can continue my expensive hobbies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok enough dreaming of my day to day. How shall we get there? Simple...blood, sweat, and tears per usual. I'm trying to niche down a bit. Devops is a lot of things and yet also a lot of nothing. I think I'll have the most success setting myself to be a STRONG SRE with automation skills. I'd like to think I have the basics of automation down so I'm going to focus on setting up and maintaining systems in operations as well as sustainment. Honestly I don't think these things are super different from when I did mobile but I need to be able to go in to anywhere and adjust quickly. Any specific plan? ------------------ Ah yea sure its kinda simple - learn from my coworkers - Get better at setting up and maintaining k8s cluster - Get better at setting up and maintaining dbs - Get better at setting up and maintaining monitoring stacks The way to talk about it here will be me more or less trying to write out what I learned. Maybe will have some IaC examples...maybe I won't. If at any point in time something sounds confusing feel free to reach out (I'm never adding comments so I'm gonna assume you know the social or smoke signals). I want to make this whole process super easy and not much of a disruption to my workflow (we should talk about that). Thats why I think writing will be the best and quickest way for me to get out information. Lastly...I know I said a number in my goal. Thats just an added bonus. I'm truly looking more for the lifestyle I described than anything. I'm getting older and I know what type of day I want and need to thrive. The number just sounds fun. Lol I'm not capping my blessings tho, the universe can pay me until it runs dry. 😬
